Animals make wonderful subject matter for painting. I have been interested in painting and drawing them since I was a child and my father took me on drawing expeditions to the zoo. I paint dogs, cats, horses, monkeys and even elephants in the circus.
In my "Gallery", you can see Terriers: Scottish and Welsh, Beagles, Labs, a Japanese Chin, a Lhasa Apso,an Irish Setter, even a Monkey and sooner or later an elephant or two! The most challenging aspect of pet portraiture is catching the personality and the light in the the animal's eyes so that the owner recognizes the emotion of animal. I work in watercolors, oils or acryllics from keepsake sizes to large formats. Much of what you will see in my gallery are commissioned work, giclees are available of those paintings.
